Kathmandu

I am happy to say that I’ve recovered from the nasty illness I got immediately upon returning from Nepal. It’s never fun being sick, but I am eternally grateful that I got sick at home instead of while in the middle of trekking the Himalayas.

All-in-all I had a wonderful trip and I’m excited to share some of the stories with you. Due to the fact that there were many different chapters to my trip, I’ll break them up into smaller segments and share them over time.

I landed in Kathmandu, where I spent a few days getting to know the city and adjusting to the local time zone (Nepal is 12.75 hours ahead of California). I honestly didn’t know what to expect from Kathmandu, and while I wouldn’t call it a favorite city of mine, I did enjoy exploring and found things that I really liked about the city - the food, the people and the cultural sites were impressive! Kathmandu is home to around 1.6 million people, and is located about 4.6k feet above sea level (elevation will be a theme in these coming emails).

As you know, I prefer nature photography, but because I had a few days in the city I decided to make the most of it and did a ton of city photography. Which means I pretty much just walked around all day looking for interesting light, fun contrast and unique people. Many of the photos are simplistic, while many are more complex. I hope you find them all appealing in their own way.
