Our Final Night

After spending the night at our lovely little creekside campsite, we woke up, had breakfast and hit the trail. We were only about 7 miles from being back at our vehicle, but because we still had one more night left on our itinerary we figured we’d hike a handful of miles and find another nice campsite a little closer to the trailhead. And we did see a couple sites that would have worked, but nothing that we were super excited about, so that’s when our plan changed yet again. We decided to head back to the truck and spend our final night at the same campsite by the lake where our adventure began. Once back at the truck, the shift from backpack mode to camping mode was rapid, exemplified by our first stop being for beer and ice, both of which are normal at campsites but absolute luxuries on the trail. After that quick pitstop, we arrived at the lake, set up camp, did some fishing, then spent the final hours of our adventure belly laughing around the fire before going to bed. Looking back, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. It was an amazing experience with great friends and I cannot wait to do it again.
