The Jackpot
Well, I didn’t win the $1.8B Powerball, but this storm is reminding me of all the ways I’ve already hit the jackpot.
For the past few nights, as I lay in my warm bed listening to the rain and wind howl outside my window, I kept imagining not having all the comforts that I’ve come to take for granted.
A roof and walls.
Warm clothes.
A dry bed.
Food to eat.
I take this entire list for granted every single day of my life, yet for some, even in the nicest of weather, they are the greatest of luxuries.
So, would it have been nice to hit the Powerball? Absolutely. But, in comparison to many, I’ve already hit the jackpot.
And I think that’s an important perspective to keep.

P.S. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! I hope you, too, continue to be surrounded by immense blessings, big and small. The next time you hear from me it will be 2026—hopefully our best year yet!
Much love,
Jake
